Let me tell you of the gingerbread man

When he had the chance he ran and ran

Main street tried to catch him in its hands

But he decided on another land

Run away

So into the great white north he went

With his cookies and a brand new tent

The fox and the hounds were also sent

To retrieve all that once was lent

Run away

I would fend them off if I could

But alone here I stand in the woods

Keep running faster yes you should

Or you will meet the fate of red riding hood

Run away

the stones and smelly air are always in your eye

the bones there must be aware there is no place to lie

the homes and rotary phones know 911 by heart

you roam there all alone looking for a start

the bikes are gassy loud you race your face to hide

the dikes leak very well the carbon monoxide

old misters and young boys are born to pick a fight

mothers and sisters deploy to work the night

and in Oaklandia every day is war

and in Oaklandia everyone is poor

and in Oaklandia

and in Oaklandia

you

and your euro eyes

spanish heart

in disguise

when the ocean is

very high

to the rock

warm and dry

I’m the rock

and you know

british eyes

and a spanish glow

stand on me with your toes

shelter you

when the wet world blows

with eyes close

eyes closed

oh breathe me a quiet storm

when you’re in the dorm

or a soft hurricane

in the acid rain

in the rain, in the rain

when the tide is high

and you’re heart a burning sigh

or a desert cold and dry

to the rock you crying fly
